Crazy Creatives Wanted to Manage exciting new Arts Projects

Do you want to help spread arts access and opportunities in Scotland? Do you have a thirst to learn more and to develop the skills you currently have? Do you love excessive exclamation points!? Then we want you to get involved in Pop Up! Scotland! 

  • Voluntary Position
  • 5-10 hours per week (potentially more during event)

  • Edinburgh based (though applications from other regions will be considered on a case by case basis)

Pop Up! Scotland is looking to recruit volunteer Project and Event Managers to join their successful and growing team to work on a spreading arts opportunities in Scotland. Successful candidates must be highly driven individuals who are able to quickly develop long lasting relationships, who have solid skills an experience that can be applied to this role, and who are passionate about spreading arts access.

We have a lot of exciting ideas for projects in the next year, but we’ve realised that it takes a village to raise an…arts organisation. Isn’t that how the saying goes?

We’re looking for some great volunteers to who are passionate about promoting the arts in Scotland and want to get involved in a fun organisation with a good sense of humour, big dreams, and no fear (ok, maybe a little fear, promise you won’t tell anyone?).

Key Responsibilities:
You head up an event or exhibition. You don’t have to do everything yourself, but you do have to make sure it gets done, good organisation and delegation are key. The project manager will take on projects as assigned by the Pop Up! Executive team and work with the team to develop new ideas and projects.

  • Average 5-10 hours per week.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to be trained “in the field” on organising creative events and exhibitions.
  • Recruit and manage your own team of volunteers.
  • Work with the Creative Director and your team to source sponsorship, venues, volunteers, licenses, artwork, artists, etc.
  • Develop budget for the project(s)
  • Remain in constant communication with both your team and the Creative Director

Applicant Profile

  • Self-directed, extremely proactive, hands-on and target-driven 
  • Track record working in the arts or with events (student projects count!)
  • Resourceful, professional, well organised and a creative-thinker 
  • Thrives under pressure, with the ability to remain flexible 
  • Driven at all times 
  • Team player 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential 
  • Experienced and confident in new relationship/collaboration development and existing client relationship management

Yes, this is voluntary. At the moment we’re run on good old fashioned man hours and determination. As we grow, there is the potentiality for this to become a paid part time position.
