Pop Up! Scotland delivered a day of linocut printmaking to celebrate the spirit of Hogmanay! We met with the Insider team and local artist Molly McEwan to design the perfect experience for Insider:Land visitors. Molly designed and cut a series of linoprint blocks highlighting Insider’s Strathspey Safari. with interchangeable pieces featuring different animal prints, images, and of course the Strathspey Safari logo itself. Visitors got to experiment with lino in an easy and memorable way, selecting their own unique pattern combination, colour: in the end taking home their own handmade print at the end of the festival!
The workshops were a great success engaging with over 400 hundred people, with constant queue to participate. If you feel that a workshop like this might fit well into your events don’t hesitate to contact us at info@popupscotland.org or via our contact form.
About the Event:
The 2016 Scot:Lands marks the third year of this popular New Year’s event. This is how it works: in each venue, musicians and artists from across Scotland have been set the task of creating a distinctive and bespoke atmosphere reflecting their work and the places that have inspired them. Culture crawlers pick up their Scot:Lands map and “Landing Card” from the Departure Lounge in the University of Edinburgh’s Old College, then continue along a randomly selected and mysterious route around familiar and unknown, indoor and outdoor, atmospheric venues at their own pace. Interactive sessions featuring music, dance, storytelling, as well as food and drink, await.
Among the eleven destinations is Insider:Land. Dropping in from Aviemore The Insider Festival will recreate the essence of an outdoor festival in an indoor venue with a distillation of music, food and drink from the Inver Restaurant and performances from Admiral Fallow, Blue Rose Code, Findlay Napier and BEAM. Pop Up! Scotland was chosen to run some of its amazing workshops for the Insider:Land visitors.
